Let’s all Sing Elgin.

What does that mean, exactly? Well, when this great city in the Far Northwest Suburbs of Chicagoland was established in the mid-19th century it was named “Elgin” after a popular Scottish song. The founders were looking for a site on the stagecoach route from Chicago to Galena, Illinois. They settled on a spot along the Fox.

Early Elgin achieved fame for butter and dairy which it sold to the city of Chicago. Gail Borden himself established a condensed milk factory here after the Civil War and our local library is named in his honor. The dairy industry became less important with the arrival of the Elgin Watch Company.

Today, in spite of the many challenges put before us in this year 2020 Elgin continues to thrive. Right along with it is the decades-old company Tom’s Plumbing for all your plumbing needs in the upcoming year of 2021. From your friends at Tom’s Plumbing Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
