It Was Only a Year Ago.

Now that our vision is “2020” sometimes it is difficult to look back, but just about a year ago in March of 2019 Chicagoland experienced some severe flooding.  A combination of high soil moisture, frozen ground, quick snow melt, and rainfall caused major river flooding around our area in Northern Illinois.  It may not have been as nasty in Elgin, but it was close!

There are five factors that occur in concert about this time that can result in major flooding –

1.  Soil with a high moisture content.
2.  Frozen ground.
3.  Plenty of snow cover.
4.  Sudden rains.
5.  Then, the snow melts.

You can’t fight Mother Nature as the saying goes, but you can prepare.  Do you have a sump pump in your Elgin area home?  Why…well they pump everything up and out and keep your basement from becoming something resembling a dirty swimming pool.  Avoid the hassle and damage!  Call Tom’s Plumbing serving the sump pump and needs of Northwest suburban Chicagoland at (847) 697-6444.
